Save a Newborn Initiative
Giving Fragile Lives a Fighting Chance
Overview
Each year, thousands of Nigerian newborns face life-threatening conditions due to poor access to healthcare, limited hospital resources, and economic hardship faced by their families. At Tasieobi Global Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the right to live, regardless of the circumstances into which they are born.
The Save a Newborn Initiative, implemented every March and April, is our direct response to the neonatal care crisis in under-resourced communities. We partner with hospitals to deliver life-saving equipment, medical supplies, and critical support to newborns and their mothers during their most vulnerable moments.
Why This Matters
Nigeria remains one of the countries with the highest rates of neonatal mortality. Many of these deaths are preventable with the right intervention, such as an incubator, access to medication, or simply covering the cost of urgent care.
We are driven by the belief that no baby should die from lack of equipment or basic support. Through this initiative, we save lives, preserve families, and give newborns a healthier start to life.
Program Components
Hospital Equipment Donations
We identify hospitals in need and donate essential neonatal equipment and supplies, including: Incubators for premature babies, Phototherapy machines for jaundice, Oxygen concentrators and resuscitation kits, Sterile baby cots, thermometers, and feeding bottle.
Mothers & Baby Welfare Support
We distribute care packages to indigent mothers and their newborns who may lack even the basics for survival. Each pack includes: Baby clothes, blankets, diapers, and wipes, Formula, feeding bottles, and hygiene kits, Maternity pads, sanitary towels, and postnatal supplements for mothers. This ensures dignity and safety for both baby and mother during the critical postpartum period.
Emergency Medical Bill Assistance
Many babies suffer or die simply because their parents cannot afford emergency treatments or delivery fees. We work closely with hospital social workers to: Identify urgent financial cases, Settle delivery-related hospital bills, Fund neonatal surgeries or treatments on a case-by-case basis. Our goal is to remove financial barriers to timely and adequate care.
Hospital & Community Partnerships
We collaborate with public and private hospitals, midwives, and medical volunteers to ensure the proper implementation and sustainability of this program. We also support health education within the community to promote: Early antenatal care, Clean delivery practices, Basic newborn care and maternal health awareness.
